Blogging Ramadan. Day 3.

A Sunday. A day off. A welcomed break from the hectic pace of the week.  On the net, I see that Ramadan in probably the best known aspect of Islam and Muslim life.

In Malaysia, the best known aspect of Ramadan is probably the pasar ramadan. So much so that for some non-Muslims its a bother. My friend, Tham, last year complained that ramadan was not good for him. Every afternoon, he or his workers would descend on the food market. Consequently, he had to do extra jogging on the weekends to burn off the side-effects. I'm writing this while waiting for my family near the Pandan Indah Pasar Ramadan - no parking space. Yup. The Muslims may be the only ones fasting but they definitely aren't the only hungry ones.
A friend asked about free good today. Of course the food at the Pasar Ramadan is not free. Aftwr all, its a market there is free food at the masjids for iftar, after tarawikh snacks and syahur. Then again there is often free fod at the masjids.

What puzzles me is this fixation on food.
In Ramadan, fasting is not just about eating and drinking. Its about renewing your faith.
