At the Temple Tonight

At the Temple Tonight Malaysians will worship.
They will be staring at the shining CRT,
With awe etched on their expectant faces,
Their throats scratchy from vocal excesses.
Knuckles taut restrained anxiety.
Waiting to jump and roar when someone scores.

Malaysians who were oblivious of the game will,
Convert tonight and sit and stare devoutly still,
Watching with adoring eyes oblivous of the till,
That keeps tracks of the cash bled from their wallets and purses.

My fellow Malaysians will stare enraptured,
Then erupt is exultant expectation,
Then sit and sigh in anguish,
Repeatedly, at each try.
From start to finish,
Voice getting.hoarser with each cry.

Their sound and fury,
To the oblivious teams mean nothing.
Fretting and strutting over the goals,
Remeniscent of an idiots tale.
