Another day in Ramadan
Yesterday, I had a conversation with a groups of friends on
Whatsapp. When one expressed sadness that
a day of fasting had already passed, another friend, a Christian, asked why she
would be sad. The Christian friend
thought it would be a good thing to have passed another day of fasting. The reason is simple. On the surface, fasting in Ramadan is a
physical trial and certainly it would be a happy to have passed one day. Ramadan however is more than just fasting, it
is a month when Allah “opens the doors of Heaven” – it is an expression
referring to the multitude of blessings and opportunities. So, if you regard each day of Ramadan as an
opportunity then each passing day is an opportunity that has passed: this is
why my friend expressed sadness at the passing of a day in Ramadan.
As for the benefits of Ramadan, I thought of explaining it
myself but then again, I found websites that express is in concise and easily
understandable ways.
