How to Behave Like a Pile of Sand

Imagine a flat surface. A regular surface, not The Microsoft one. A table will do but preferably a stable one. Next get lots of dry fine sand. Preferably with no traces of feline, canine, porcine, bovine or any other kind of excrement. Now, slowly pour the sand onto that surface in a slow steady flow.  Your will probably a pile begin to develop. Your cone shaped pile will steadily get taller and taller. At some point, the pile will collapse and the top part will.come cascading down the side.  You will get a cone shaped pile with a plateau.
Continue pouring and another pile will start on the plateau. It will continue and the cycle will repeat. You continue and you will have a structure that has steps on its side.
Now lets get metaphorical.
We pile "stuff" everyday. The pile continues to grow until we do something to sort things out. When we do, we create a "clear" plateau on top of an now organized pile. Then we start anew on that plateau. If we don't we become hoarders and it becomes unbearable.
Think also of the news we get daily. Once, upon a time, on a different plateau, a certain news will shock us. Today, we don't even twitch an eyelid.
