Dinner at the Legend hotel

I Attended the DBKL IKATAN dinner on Mama's behalf because she does not want to sit alone at table while Yon perform on stage.
Deja vu, Pak Andak was a surveyor & he played the guitar & sang. Yon is an architect & he plays the guitar.
The dinner theme was 'colours'. They had very colourfully dressed mariachi & dancers but for some reason they reminded me of
From the speeches, I seem to detect a certain sense of uneasiness of PTD officers being elected as mayor over local officers. This present mayor was elected from the officers ranks, and the staff seem happy about it.
They put on quite a show, these chaps. I got the impression that the band has actually been together since the 70s, there were a few new additions like Yon but there is a core of hardcore members who seem to have that je ne sais qua you get from playing together on & off for 3 decades.
This is a pat-on-the-back night, they had also invite Amalina, the girl who got 17 A's in SPM, who happens to be the daughter of a staff member. Being a debater, her speech was written & delivered in the classic school debate style. I gt the feeling that this was the speech she has prepared for her visit to schools to give motivational talks to 5th formers. Well, good on her. I just hope she's getting paid for all these talks & visits.
Presents were given out, the high ranking officers were 'forced' to sing and lucky draws were drawn. So the night ended with a few people left with the task of cleaning up, they were, of course, the committee members. Alls well that ends well, or something like that.
Its late but the road in front of the Mall was still jammed up with the people coming out of PWTC from the Seri Angkasa awards. Earlier, Ain smsed me to tell me that there has been another road bully case, the victim is in critical condition I think. Maybe its time to allow handguns on the streets.
On Monday, these very people will go back to giving entertainment licenses and denying theater show permits. :-)
