Daily Cultural Hegemony

A cultural Hegemony is when that culture asserts its influence upon you in whatever way, be it voluntary or involuntary on your part, to the point that you accept elements from that culture as common place and elements of your own as exotic and foreign. Sounds strange, right.
Well, if you ask a Malaysian what is an exotic breakfast, they would probably describe a Malaysian breakfast like Nasi Lemak, Tosai or Bak Kut Teh. These are their own food.
A few days ago, Ain and I decided to have an exotic breakfast. So we went to MacDonald's. I had the Grand Breakfast: a truly exotic breakfast, from the Malaysian perspective.
