She Wil Be Leaving Soon
She Will Be Leaving Soon
She will be leaving soon.
My baby girl is going to college.
She who screamed her presence when she was born wants to
bring her voice the courts.
She wants to learn the laws of the land, she who argued against
every rule her mother and I make. An irony laid in time’s sands. A good
advocate, I think she will make.
So, she will be leaving next week. Leaving behind an empty room.
A house now silent. Devoid of the voices if the sisters arguing, laughing,
calling each other from separate rooms. I can feel that silence loom. An
absence that walks from room to room.
She is leaving next week and we remain. Together
like we once were but somehow made lonelier, alone with memories of times we
cannot regain.
