Some Jokes Can Kill, Apparently
Some years ago, a French magazine decided to make fun of the Prophet of Islam. They must have thought that it would be hilarious. Some did. Many Muslims thought out was not and they thought it was not acceptable to make fun of the beliefs of others even under the ideals that the West claims to uphold.
Yesterday, some French citizens who claim to be Muslims attacked the magazine's office with Russian designed guns and killed about a dozen staff members and injuring others. In doing so, they actually violate the principles on Islam as exemplified by the actions of The Prophet PBUH when he was ridiculed and attacked by the Arabs at the time. He even stopped his companion who happened to be a swordsman from taking the heads of those Arabs.
If however we look at this whole affair in the same light and Spirit that the magazine claimed to take when they published the cartoons, I think you'll find that the whole affairs is actually quite funny, hilarious even.
Both parties involved violated the very principles they claim to uphold and follow. Both acted. Consequently, parties that actually follow the principles were and are upset. Doesn't that seem funny to you?
