I believe
“I believe” is harder to do than to say,
To find the strength to stay the path
To find the humility to prostrate and pray
In a world of pain, anguish and wrath.
“I believe” is finding joy in gifts obscure
Hidden in the blinding plainness of sight
Behind our overwhelming pride
Smothered by our thoughts no longer pure.
“I believe” is a brave testimony
To stand on the mound and exclaim your faith
To turn friends into adversaries
To reveal friends in former enemies
To turn certainties into elusive wraiths
To unmask lies in maxims held.
Beneficent One.
I have no strength save coming from Thee.
Guide me. Show the way,
To proclaim on this day
And all the days that remain
I BELIEVE.
To find the strength to stay the path
To find the humility to prostrate and pray
In a world of pain, anguish and wrath.
“I believe” is finding joy in gifts obscure
Hidden in the blinding plainness of sight
Behind our overwhelming pride
Smothered by our thoughts no longer pure.
“I believe” is a brave testimony
To stand on the mound and exclaim your faith
To turn friends into adversaries
To reveal friends in former enemies
To turn certainties into elusive wraiths
To unmask lies in maxims held.
Beneficent One.
I have no strength save coming from Thee.
Guide me. Show the way,
To proclaim on this day
And all the days that remain
I BELIEVE.
